Earth Day Every Day
In celebration of Earth Day, we are excited to announce our partnership with One Tree Planted to support reforestation efforts across the globe. Starting today we will plant one tree for every order — one for one.
One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization focused on global reforestation. Started in 2014, they have more than doubled the number of trees planted year over year. They work with reforestations partners across the globe in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa who help get the trees in the ground to restore forests after fires and floods, create jobs, build communities, and protect habitat for biodiversity.
Why trees? Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines, and absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere playing a vital role in climate change. Approximately 2.6 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide, one-third of the CO2 released from burning fossil fuels, is absorbed by forests every year.
Our lifestyles are taking a toll on our Earth's lungs. We’re losing 18.7 million acres of forests annually, equivalent to 27 soccer fields every minute. From a fashion context, 150 million trees are logged and turned into fabric every year. If placed end to end, these trees would circle our earth’s equator 7 times over. Estimates show that nearly two billion hectares of degraded land across the world – an area the size of South America – offer opportunities for restoration.
How does it work? For every order we receive, we will donate $1 to One Tree Planted, which is the equivalent of one tree — $1 donated = one tree. One Tree Planted takes the donation money and allocates it to its partners across the globe. This allows its partners to start prepping the land, grow saplings, plant trees into the ground, and maintain and monitor the trees.
For us, this decision was easy to make. It's just one of many other ways we hope to utilize Clodama as a platform to do good and give back to our planet and communities for a more sustainable future.
